Two-Storey Modular Weighbridge Facility – Immingham Docks
Project Overview
Phoenix Building Systems Ltd was appointed by CR Reynolds to design, manufacture and install a two-storey modular weighbridge building at Immingham Docks. Acting on behalf of ABP, CR Reynolds required a robust and functional facility to support a wider redevelopment programme at the port. The modular solution delivered by Phoenix included full factory fit-out, transportation, and installation—all delivered in line with the latest Building Regulations.
Project Purpose
This weighbridge facility forms a key part of ABP’s ongoing regeneration plans for the Immingham Docks, designed to modernise and revitalise key operational areas. The modular building is purpose-built to accommodate essential controls for an external sampling arm, as well as internal welfare and utility spaces to support site staff.
Functional Design & Services
Phoenix’s two-storey modular design integrates both operational control and staff amenities into one efficient footprint. Key functional features include:
Control room for external sampling arm operations
Full CCTV installation for security and monitoring
3-phase electrical supplies and isolators to power technical equipment
Welfare provisions, includinga kitchenette and staff rest facilities
External Finish & Access
Given the facility’s industrial setting and function, the external materials were chosen for maximum durability and minimal maintenance.
Cladding: Plastisol-coated steel in a two-tone grey finish
Main body: Goosewing Grey (light grey)
Fascia & accents: Anthracite Grey (dark grey)
External staircase: Powder-coated steel staircase, painted black with yellow nosings for enhanced safety and full Building Regulations compliance
Plastisol-coated steel is a widely used, cost-effective cladding solution that offers long-term durability, weather resistance, and aesthetic flexibility, making it ideal for high-traffic industrial locations like ports.
Outcome
The project was delivered efficiently and to specification, providing ABP with a reliable and regulation-compliant facility to enhance weighbridge operations at Immingham Docks. The modular approach enabled rapid deployment with minimal disruption to the surrounding redevelopment works.
